The Rivera Cuale development in El Caloso recently invited local children to participate in a fun day of environmentally educational activities. About 50 children and their mothers were given T-shirts specially designed for the event, with logos reflecting the colors that Puerto Vallarta is using in its initiative to separate garbage - green for Organic, blue for Inorganic and orange for Sanitary.

The children were taught about the meaning of the colored stickers for marking the garbage bags and then collected 20 bags of garbage along the Cuale River in about an hour. After lunch they learned more about the environment and watched videos about nature, contamination, taking care of the planet and recycling. Finally everyone gathered outside for a surprise game where they answered questions to win prizes. There was also a draw for prizes generously donated by local businesses wanting to support this educational initiative.

The day ended with a symbolic activity where the children gathered in Rivera Cuale’s on site nursery to plant a young Parota tree. Rivera Cuale is looking forward to working together with the community to foster environmental awareness and cooperation through similar future event.
